This historic site is filled with stories!!!
It’s a must-visit spot in San Francisco. Arrive early for a better experience, and you can choose when to return. Using the audio guide is a great idea, as there are many stories that take you back in time. There are water dispensers on the island. I had an amazing time there!!!!!!!

They’ve managed to create lovely gardens while preserving the island’s history. The audio tour was informative and definitely worth it.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to walk uphill to reach the main prison. However, there are options for people with limited mobility.

When you’re in San Francisco, it’s a good idea to visit Alcatraz Island at least once! Make sure to book ahead with Alcatraz City Cruises through the National Park Service for your ride to and from the island and to dock there for the audio tour. Some other tours only go around the island without docking. The audio tour is around 30-40 minutes and is packed with interesting information that moves quickly. Remember that the island doesn’t have any food options, so bring your own or buy some on the ferry. We visited in the hot summer (late August) and there were a lot of flies. Just a heads-up, the island can have strong smells in certain areas!

It was an awesome experience! I loved the way everything looked abandoned. I have to admit, it gave me a little scare. There are also so many cool souvenirs available. I really hope all of you get a chance to visit Alcatraz!
