Today marked the busiest weekday I’ve encountered during my visits here. Despite the substantial crowd, it remains a fantastic destination to explore with kids, and the standout feature undoubtedly lies in the planetarium shows. The recently introduced dinosaur exhibit is impressive, although there’s room for some updates across the board.

Attended the Nightlife event and had an absolute blast. Kicking off at 6 PM and spanning several hours, it was an engaging experience. The planetarium session was a delight, taking us on a journey through the cosmos. The jungle zone brimmed with a diverse array of animals and plants to explore. While the DJ’s music set the mood, my focus remained engrossed in exploring the exhibits.

The restaurant is open, and on select nights, live music fills the air. During this particular night, the entertainment lineup featured two bands and a DJ, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere.
The entire Academy opens its doors, including the captivating Rainforest exhibit. It’s worth noting that a separate ticket is required for entry into the Planetarium. A valuable tip: secure your ticket a few weeks ahead to snag the best price, around $20. With each passing day, the cost increases, and if you opt to purchase your ticket at the door, expect to pay over $30. For those seeking an elevated experience, there’s a VIP package that includes two drinks and additional special perks.

Weekends tend to draw larger crowds, so I recommend opting for a weekday visit. The section dedicated to the rainforest is undoubtedly my top pick. The expansive aquarium features a grand staircase offering stunning views. Not to be missed are the endearing penguins! Conveniently, there’s a parking lot that leads directly to the entrance. All in all, it’s an incredibly enjoyable experience.

As of now, opting for family passes rather than individual day tickets is a more economical choice, especially if you’re contemplating a return trip, even just once more. Street parking is manageable if you arrive early enough. Golden Gate Park offers ample exploration opportunities, making it easy to pass the time if you come an hour or two before opening. The dining options are reasonably priced, and I’m particularly pleased with the array of vegetarian-friendly choices available.
