Definitely worth a visit. My kids had a fantastic time, and there’s so much to learn from the historical aspects. It took us about two hours to explore everything. There was quite a bit of walking involved, and we climbed stairs as well. I do wish the tour had delved more into the inner workings of the ship, like the engine room. Nevertheless, there were several exhibits that truly enriched the overall experience.

All of us in our group, including adults, kids, and teenagers, were pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable this battleship tour turned out to be. Even as a military veteran, I was pleased to see that the younger members of our group found the ship and its interactive history to be both appealing and interesting. It’s a great activity to do at your own pace, especially on a summer day, and it’s budget-friendly too. Also, I must mention that Monday is an ideal day to visit, as there are fewer visitors around.

The battleship is remarkably well-preserved despite its inactivity for around 30 years. The tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable and always strive to address any questions you may have. If you’re interested in guided tours, I highly recommend visiting on weekends when more volunteers are available. For those who previously served on the ship, Saturdays offer the best chance to explore off-limits areas as that’s when a volunteer with access keys is most likely to be present. There are food options available near Turret 3, and a well-stocked gift shop is located by the old mess decks. The museum exhibits are still expanding, although the berthing areas below decks forward of Turret 2 are a bit chaotic. This was my first visit back to the ship since I transferred out in 1988, and I’m truly glad I did. If you’re a former crew member, remember to bring a marker – if your old rack is still there, you can leave your signature on it.

Kudos to the volunteers who make the experience exceptional. They are friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. The battleship itself is in quite good condition, with ongoing renovation in some areas. My family had a great time exploring the ship, from the living quarters to the battle stations and mess hall. There’s even a fun little game for the younger kids to enjoy. Overall, visiting and exploring the ship is definitely worth it.

Highly educational and a lot of fun. I still recall the days when this ship was active, as I was in the Navy back then. If you’re taking a self-guided tour, finding the directional arrows can sometimes be a bit tricky. Making the arrows larger or using reflective materials might improve navigation. The staff were welcoming and ready to assist. All in all, it was a positive experience.

Really cool history spot with amazing volunteers. We took The Presidents Tour and it was awesome. Definitely recommend if you’re around Long Beach.

The ship is really big. Plan for about 3 hours for the visit.

We used the gocity pass for this and it was totally worth it.

Learn history, take photos (also outside the ship), and explore life on a ship, like eating, tailoring, barbering, etc.

It’s a long attraction with lots of info, so time it right in case you want to visit nearby attractions.

Just follow the signs and you’re good to go. They have an app, but the AR experience might be tricky due to weak network.
